Our client is a global leader however its OTC business operates relatively autonomously in Canada, with certain brands sharing a North American approach to strategy development. With the incumbent Vice President Marketing retiring, and an ensuing overall reorganization to ensure the best possible brand marketing team would be in place, Mandrake’s job was to first identify the VP Marketing, and then fill the subsequent roles with best in class talent. Importantly, “fit” was essential as the company was working toward evolving its culture.
Approach: A thorough Profile was developed for the VP Marketing role. Our search for talent was focused against both Canadian, and U.S. offices of CPG companies. The successful candidate must have been trained in tier one CPG and then ideally have worked for an OTC company, or a company with regulated products. The Senior Brand Managers had to be classically trained, have an impeccable education pedigree and proven track record of delivering business results. The VP and SBM’s needed to have experience running a business autonomously in Canada, as well as interacting with their global counter parts.
An exhaustive search both north and south of the border led to the hire of an exceptionally qualified and talented executive for the Vice President’s role. The individual had an impeccable academic background, coupled with both U.S. and Canadian work experience in traditional CPG marketing as well as OTC.
