Vice-President, Marketing – Confidential
Remote Canadian City – Relocation required
The challenge was to find a candidate open to relocation at the Vice-President level. The candidate was to bring strong leadership skills and proven marketing abilities within the Promotion, Retail and Sports industries. Additionally, their Head Office was located in a western Canadian city with few sports marketing executives and the targeted, qualified candidates resided across Canada and the United States. Marketing the client to the candidates was not possible because, although the client was extremely high profile, the search was confidential. Candidates had to be previously known to our firm, pre-screened for qualification and open to re-location before they could qualify for an interview.
We met with the head of Human Resources and the hiring team and determined that a strong leader and mentor was required to oversee the corporate brand, the Business Communications, Brand Marketing Services and other Licensing and Retail initiatives. We compiled a list of known Senior Vice-Presidents of Marketing from Consumer Package Goods, Sports and Promotion and began eliminating candidates who would not be willing to re-locate.
Following a thorough North American search of top Marketers, a solid list of candidate’s coming from large international well-recognized Sports organizations was identified. Working in tandem with our client, we formed a short-list of top marketers with leadership skills and the ability to achieve the company objective of enhancing sales, growth, and visibility while ensuring a consistent marketing message and positioning throughout Canada.
Our successful candidate is a well-known brand leader in the sports industry and the client is pleased to have him as a key contributor to the strategy, tactics and programs to create interest, demand and recognition for the brand.
