MANDRAKE OPENS NEW MARKETS

TORONTO, December 18, 2000 - Gary Reid, former CEO of the Toronto Harbour Commission, has joined Canada's leading executive search firm as a Consultant and Practice Leader in four separate and highly-specialized practice areas: Government Services, Associations, Law and Transportation.

Reid, a lawyer with more than 25 years of experience in a public authority, managed a significant transportation portfolio that included the intermodal movement of goods by sea, rail and road and the movement of passengers by air, as well as the provision of membership services to the business community and retail services to recreational boaters. 

At the Toronto Harbour Commission, Reid formulated and implemented a strategy to open the first teleport in Canada. He initiated a program to change the Toronto Island Airport from a half-century of financial losses as a sleepy country airport to a busy downtown commuter profit centre. Reid successfully shepherded an environmental assessment to build a bridge to the Toronto Island Airport through a contentious political environment. He also downsized and rebuilt the THC, improving its profitability, focus and culture.
